AGBU’s educational endeavors seek to prepare young Armenians in more than 37 countries for a successful future through programs that involve close to 7,000 students each year. AGBU firmly believes in the importance and value of education, awarding grants and loans to highly qualified candidates through its decades-old scholarship program, and organising summer internships in New-York, Paris and Yerevan for dozens of student interns at the leading companies and organizations in those cities.
The AGBU Scholarship Program offers financial assistance to full-time students of Armenian descent enrolled in most competitive colleges and universities. Well over 1,500 students from 29 countries received grants and loans totaling over $2,043,000 to pursue their collegiate studies, in fields ranging from medicine to the arts and from law to Armenian studies. Almost half of this sum was allocated to scholarships for graduate degree candidates at the American University of Armenia.
The AGBU also organizes summer internship programs in Paris, New York and Yerevan. The objectives are:
- Providing valuable professional experience to students
- Raising awareness of Armenian origin and culture through specific educational, social and cultural activities catered to the interests of the students
- Developping contacts and promoting the values of humanitarian aid
